About Mike Reese

Westmoreland County is my home, as it is home to many hard working and honest families. Living, working and serving in this county has defined me as an individual and inspired me to see how I can better serve it.

I was born and raised here in 59th district, growing up in a small section of Mount Pleasant Township. I had wonderful family and community support in my childhood and this is where I learned to love this area and this county. I attended Mount Pleasant Area High School and after graduation went on to pursue my education at Duquesne University where I earned a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in History. In 2002, I started my education at Seton Hill University where in 2004 I earned my Master of Business Administration with a focus on management.

As an adult I lived for a short time in North Carolina and for a year in the city of Pittsburgh. But to me, home is more than a building and a yard and soon Westmoreland County called me back. After my marriage to my wife, Angela, in 2002 we bought our first home in South Greensburg.  Then in 2005 with our family growing, Angela and I decided to move back to my home town of Mt. Pleasant. During my wife’s first trimester of pregnancy, we decided this would be our last move for a very long time. We were blessed with our daughter, Addison, in October 2005, our son Michael joined us in February 2008 and our newest addition, Claire, graced us on June 15, 2010.

Since college I have worked in different facets of the community. In my position at the admissions office of University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and in my position at the Pressley Ridge Schools at Ohiopyle, I was given the chance to work with children and young adults in their quest to succeed in life. As you may already know, I served as chief of staff for Republican Commissioner, Phil Light. I took this position in 2004 when the late Terry Marolt was elected as a commissioner and then stayed on when Phil Light was appointed to the post. During my tenure as chief of staff and then as Assistant Director of Financial Administration in Westmoreland County I developed a true understanding of the diverse issues that affect the 59th district
